Oscar-winning de Niro cuts the opening ribbon of Nobu Hotel in Manila

On Monday, the famous actor Robert de Niro along with his partners, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and Hollywood producer Meir Teper, opened the first in Manila Nobu Hotel.

De Niro with the partner and the heads of Melco Crown Entertainment, James Packer and Lawrence Ho attended the grand opening of the hotel and entertainment complex with a casino City of Dreams Manila in Entertainment City.

The brand Nobu is famous for its 36 restaurants in 31 cities on five continents. Today, Nobu owns eight hotels, including Nobu Hotel at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, opened in 2013.

“Our partner, Chef Nobu Matsuhisa, has created a network of Nobu, as a global luxury brand, through which visitors can find the best of Japanese culture. This opportunity can be obtained at this wonderful property, “- said James Packer at the opening ceremony.

Oscar-winning actor has declared his readiness to take part in other projects in the Philippines.

“In the Philippines, there are many beautiful places, where Nobu complex could be accommodated. If we can find a suitable location, anything is possible,” said De Niro during the press conference. In the next two years Nobu brand plans to open eight more hotels in North America, London, the Middle East and Asia.

The authorities at Philippines proceed to encourage foreign investments in the gambling industry of the country to build casinos resorts in other cities.

The Sino-American Gaming Investment Group together with Macau Resources Group Ltd are going to invest $650 million to buy 14 hectares in Mactan, Cebu to build Mactan Leisure City casino resort. It will consist of 3 seven-star hotels, a shopping mall. More than 6000 employees will find a job there, and the income of the resorts is expected to be millions of dollars.

Mactan mayor supports the project and it is the turn of the city council to approve the building and send a letter to Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (PAGCOR).

The complex is planned to open in 2017.
